TRUSKO

TRUSKO is a Dallas-based-project that blends elements Jazz, R&B, and Hip-Hop. TRUSKO performances are dynamic takes through drama filled music. Moments of the music involve the energy of a full orchestra, time-bending grooves, hymn-like vocals, and lush soundscapes of synthesizers. This isn’t just a series of jazz odysseys, these are songs.

The band operates as a collective, with many guest musicians. 2019 Dallas-Observer-Award-Winning Bassist Robert Trusko composers and leads the band not just on bass, but with his voice, and Ableton Push. Using his 64 button matrix Ableton Push, Trusko can perform and loop the sounds of keyboard player, bass player, choir, orchestra, and drummer at any moment. The regular line-up includes Jordan Gheen on keyboards, Anthony Plant on Guitar, and Terence Hobdy on drums.

With influences as wide as J Dilla to Joe Henderson to John Luther Adams this band brings a hip-hop/neo-soul type production to the jazz stage…or is it a modern jazz style production to the soul stage? TRUSKO’s recent single “Miles” (featuring Matt Young on drums and Skyler Hill on Guitar) yearns for the prior, but the live show takes the it to the later.

In the past year TRUSKO has performed featuring guest musicians including Grammy-Award-Winning Robert “Sput” Searight (Ghost-Note, Snarky Puppy, Kirk Franklin), Mono Neon (Ghost-Note, Prince), Mike Mitchell (Blaque Dynamite, Cameron Graves, Christian Scott), Cleon Edwards (Corey Henry, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu) in venues including The Bluewhale in Los Angeles, CA and Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas, TX.
