In Fall 2013, Several of my colleagues and I constructed two 9x4' walls that were hosted for two days on the University of North Texas Library Mall. The walls had artist Candy Chang’s renowned phrase, "Before I die I want to ___________", written in columns. Anyone could pick up a piece of chalk, write their aspirations, and reflect on their lives through this public art. Using the text from this wall and others from around the world, I created a piece of music using people’s writings as lyrics. The work, Before I Die…contains elements of various styles of music including South Indian Carnatic Music, Gospel, Jazz Fusion, and Minimalism. The work was premiered and recorded on Saturday November 23rd 2013, at the Warehouse inside Panhandle Recording Studios.

Project to be released in 2014. Here is a link to the Before I Die... Music Project site.
